Baniyas suffered a 2-1 defeat against Khorfakkan in their Round 21 clash of the ADNOC Pro League, played at Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Stadium.
The match started cautiously from both sides, with play largely confined to the midfield and limited clear-cut chances, resulting in a goalless first half.
Early in the second half, Khorfakkan took the lead through Tarik Tissoudali, before Lorenzo Rodrigues added a second goal to extend their advantage, capitalizing on their attacking efficiency.
Baniyas responded with increased attacking intent and managed to reduce the deficit in the 65th minute through Hassan Karoma, reigniting hopes of a comeback.
The Sky Blues pushed forward in the closing stages in search of an equalizer, but Khorfakkan’s defense remained compact to secure the 2-1 victory.
Baniyas will now look to bounce back and improve their results in the upcoming rounds of the ADNOC Pro League.
