Baniyas secured a place in the quarter-finals of the UAE President’s Cup after defeating Al Nasr 2–0 in their Round of 16 clash held on Tuesday evening at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Youssoufou Niakaté who converted a well-constructed attacking move with a composed finish inside the penalty area. Lionel Wamba doubled the lead in the 61st minute, capitalizing on a defensive error to extend Baniyas’ advantage and seal the result.
Baniyas delivered a disciplined performance throughout the match, showing defensive solidity and efficiency in transition, while Al Nasr struggled to create clear scoring opportunities against the well-organized Baniyas backline.
