Baniyas Club secured a valuable 2-2 draw against Khorfakkan in the first leg of the Preliminary Round of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, held on Sunday evening at the Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Stadium.

The “Sky Blues” opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Kayque Pereira, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to put Baniyas ahead. The second goal came in the 54th minute when João Victor finished off a well-worked attacking move to double the advantage.

The hosts, however, managed to respond, as Tariq Tissoudali leveled the score with a goal in the 40th minute before an own goal from Baniyas defender Khaled Al Hashmi in the 68th minute handed Khorfakkan their second.

With the tie evenly poised, the decisive second leg will be played on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Baniyas Stadium in Al Shamkha, where the Sky Blues will look to capitalize on home advantage and their supporters to secure qualification to the quarter-finals.
